Calvin and I had a unique relationship, which began on our first meeting in the spring of 1974 and continued to his untimely passing last week. He was always cordial, decent and earnest, if invariably tinged with a hint of joviality. The high point of our interaction occurred on our first meeting following the tragic loss of his house to a terrible fire several years ago. Appropriate sentiments were exchanged verbally and otherwise to our mutual appreciation and apparent satisfaction.
I am sure Calvin will be missed by all who knew him, including the congregation at New Beginnings, but most especially by Cassie and his entire family. Kindly accept my deepest condolence and those of my wife, Kanika and our family. May his soul rest in perfect peace.

I remember how nice Calvin was when we were all together. I remember the good times we had and I remember the love he showed all of us and my family. He travelled all the way from Nova Scotia for mine and Barry’s 50th Anniversary party when he wasn’t in good health. But that was the kind of man, cousin and friend he was. His presence truly made a difference that day and my family will never forget it. He was really a good person. Thank you Calvin. I love you, I’ll miss you always.
Love Sharron.

To: Mom Cassie and the entire Family of Calvin Brooks aka Pops.
Very sorry that I can not be there with you all today to celebrate the life of an amazing man. But know that I send love, prayers and my deepest condolences.
I will forever cherish my memories with him. When he fondly called me 'half of a daughter'. His love always made me feel sooooo good. I loved going to church cause he was New Beginnings Ministries, and he always greeted you with a sincere smile, hug something funny to say and of course candy.
I will forever remember and miss seeing him when I come home to visit.
"Let not your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me. In My Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, would I have told you that I go and prepare a place for you? And when I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.”
Gone but never forgotten.
Much Love from

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.
Psalms 23:1-6 NKJV

I extend my deepest condolences on the passing of a great friend of mine, Calvin Brooks. I drove a concrete truck for many years and Calvin was often the boss of the jobs I went to. He became a very special person, one whom I will never forget. May you find strength and peace through God who is the Alpha and Omega; The Beginning and The End.

To Cassie, Aunt Mildred and my entire Brooks family I extend my sincere condolences on the passing of my cousin Calvin. From the time I was a young girl Cal looked out for me even when he was teasing you you couldn't get mad at him because once he flashed that smile of his you knew you were done. When I was going through my dark valley in 2018 in his own sickness he took the time to check in on me and my children he was not only a cousin he was a friend. You didn't have to run down his and Cassie's doorstep to know you were loved. Thank you Calvin from the bottom of my heart for being one of the best cousins next to Lavonne a girl could ever have. Rest easy until we met again

Calvin Brooks was one of the most genuine human beings you could ever meet. I met Calvin back in the 70's and immediately was drawn to his kindness, good humour and great laugh. If you went into the dictionary or google and typed what is the meaning of a real man,Calvin Brook's name would be at the top.
We were so sorry and saddened to hear of Calvin's passing, far to young but make no mistake he left his mark on many.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this sad time, unfortunately we are unable to attend Calvin's celebration of life.
Kind Regards:
Charlie & Dawn Verge

My dad was alot of things to many different people but to me he was MY PAPI. He is the first man to show me love and how a woman should be treated. My heart is broken knowing that I cannot lay my eyes on him or see his always smiling face. I feel the biggest void that I never knew was possible to feel. Papi when you went home to be with the Lord you took a big part of me with you. I will always be my daddy's little girl. I will never forget you and still love you with all of my heart mind body and soul.
