Obituary of Elizabeth Ruth Joudrey

Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Elizabeth Ruth Joudrey, 88 of Lake Paul  passed away peacefully on October 15, 2019 in the Soldiers Memorial Hospital after lengthy health issues.  She was the daughter of the late Edward and Mable (Feindel) Benzanson, and was the last of her siblings.

Elizabeth was a hard worker and worked for the Grand View Manor, Dept. of Highways and even picked apples. She loved music and spent many years following her husband’s band from Windsor to Bridgetown playing Blue Grass music. She also enjoyed travelling and seen most Canadian provinces and most of the states in the USA, through the windshield of a truck, next to her beloved husband.

Elizabeth was a very family-oriented lady, adored children and was praised for her cooking.  You never left her house with an empty belly, she always made sure people left full of one of her great meals.  She was community driven and all the children in the community would call her Grammie.  But, last year, Elizabeth struggled with having her family care for her; for it was the first time in her life she needed to be looked after instead of her taking care of others.

Thank you to so many for the condolences and calls, the family appreciated all the support you have given us.  Your memory will always live on.

She is survived by her loving husband Clayton; sons Dale (Janice) Joudrey and Steven (Darlene) Joudrey; daughter Dollie (Todd) Swinamer; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Beside her parents and siblings, Elizabeth was predeceased by her son Randy and grandson Vaughn.

Special thanks to the staff at the Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Transitional Care Unit for the care Elizabeth received.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2019 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the Lake Paul & Lake George Community Centre. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Berwick Funeral Chapel, 192 Commercial Street, Berwick, NS, B0P 1E0 (902-538-9900).
