We have been doing a lot of reflecting since Hugh’s homecall. Since 1972 making visits in Charlottetown while Hugh and Paul were doing a job there. The friendship grew. SO many good times at the Kelly home. Scrabble games that Hugh HAD to win, then there were the “ umbrella “ stories. We can ditto AlanMcCandless’s memory of Hugh on the couch reading his Bible. His contributions at Maritime conferences. Visits to Nineveh for ministry, Bible Readings. When we think of Hugh.....raising a family for the Lord! His family showed how important he was to them with numerous visits to the west. He will be missed. So honoured he was a big part of our family’s life. Praying for you Dianne and all your family!

As DL Moody said on his death bed "when you read my obituary, don't believe a word of it, I am more alive than I have ever been!"
I clearly remember as a boy being introduced to "Q" at the back door of our Picadilly home. One of my many memories this man is being in the valley during his retired years with him sitting on the sofa by the front window of his house with his bible propped up on his belly reading the scriptures. He was willing to ride with me that day on a road trip doing site visits. He was reading 1Corinthians 3:22 "Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life.....or death....., or things present, or things to come; all are yours, and ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's" He chuckled and said "look at that, even death itself is only a servant now to believers, it will serve to carry us home". How true. That servant carried Hugh to his long home, we all wait now for the Reunion.

Our sympathies to Diane and the family at this difficult time. We have not forgotten, and Heaven has not forgotten ... the hard hours brother Hugh put into helping build the Sussex Gospel Hall 38 yrs ago! He sacrificed his time, and left Diane with a young family to come up here and help us build. He will be rewarded. Rev 22:12 Murray & Shirley McCandless

"Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning." Psalm 30 v5. I am sure all the family feels their hearts are breaking. Dear brother Hugh was such a kind and loving soul. He expressed his love for the Lord Jesus and maintained a consistent Testimony. He will be so missed in the Langley Assembly. It was a true honour and privilege to have known him. Praying for God's abiding comfort.
Ingrid Stevenson & family.

Hugh was a man whom I had great joy in being with. He and I shared notes on the Scriptures and I found Him to be a man of spiritual indepthness. He was not a shallow on the surface thinker but of such a caliber that he was the only one who I asked to write for the web"scripturaltruths. org" which I run. I enjoyed his worship on the Sunday mornings for he could lift our Lord up so beautifully. Now while the balance of us remember the Lord on the first day of the week by the earthly symbols He is gazing on the Lord Face to face.
