Obituary of Lloyd Willard Smith

Lloyd Willard Smith, 85 of Smith’s Cove, passed away peacefully April 8, 2019 in the Digby General Hospital.  Born in Springhill, he was the son of the late Brenton and Elizabeth (Pugsley) Smith. 

He had a very successful career as an international businessman: import/export, owning supermarkets, even running a conglomerate in the Caribbean.

He loved his family very much and is survived by sons Douglas (Bonnie), Digby; Peter (Jayne), Virginia Beach, USA; daughter-in-law Carol Ann, Porter’s Lake; grandsons Dale, David, Craig, and Paul; and granddaughters Jennifer (Jamie) Zwicker, and Janette (Steven) Aldridge; great grandsons Zachary Zwicker, and Owen Zwicker; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Lloyd was predeceased by his loving wife Janette (Melanson) Smith; son Jamie Smith; brothers Floyd (Lloyd’s twin brother), Harley, Everett, Lawson, Russell, Stuart, Fred and Adolphus; sisters Ethel, Hilda, Jessie, Eva, Laura and Dorothy.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 1:00 pm in the Digby County Funeral Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #22, Bear River.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Digby County Funeral Chapel, 367 Highway #303, Digby, B0V 1A0 (902-245-2444).
