Dear Miriam and Family,
We were very sad to learn that Dave has died. He will be greatly missed by the many people whose lives he has touched, including his schoolmates from Wolfville High School. I (Enid) was one of his classmates, and have very much appreciated all he has done to bring us together through Reunions, emails, and annual Christmas bulletins.
May you be comforted as you remember the many good years you spent with Dave, and as you receive memories from others who have been the beneficiaries of his kindness.

Dear Butch,
I am remembering Dave fondly as an educator, humourist and all around great guy, with whom I spent many hours at conferences, meetings and other less formal events. He made me laugh and he made me think, (not easy!). So I am thinking of you and the Family at this time and realizing how difficult this must be for you all. My deepest condolences.

It was with enormous sadness that I received word of Dave's death. He was such an incredible encouragement to so many of us in the Wolfville High classes of '55, '56, '57 and '58. He kept us in touch with each other through regular e-mails, and was the inspiration behind the monthly gatherings at Joe's which were such a delight to so many. He was the driving force behind our frequent reunions, as well, and what wonderful experiences those were, for all who were able to attend. It is difficult to think of him as gone. I had heard that he was not well, but did not understand that his condition was serious. Dave had a rich and rewarding life, never ceasing to reach out to others in meaningful ways. He will be greatly missed, and fondly remembered.
Cairine Robertson - Class of '56

To Dave's family
Please accept our deepest condolence at this difficult time. Dave was a very unique guy who had a special gift. Even in serious situations he very calmly found solutions, even if not popular, but always with an appropriate sense of humor. He was always approachable.
On a personal note, he provided much needed support and advice in my early years of teaching and school administration. I learned many important things from him that were helpful throughout my career.
He will be missed.

All my sympathy to David’s family. I was a work colleague during his time with the Department of Education. He was a source of advice, and wisdom gained during his extensive career in education. I found him to be a dedicated and open person, and appreciated his ability lighten tense situations with humour. I am happy that he was able to enjoy retired life for these many years.

I did not ever realize the connection but your dad served on our board of directors for many many years and he was extremely well respected. At the time we were not called Peopleworx but we were called Annapolis Valley Work Activity Siciety and I shared many laughs with your dad over the years. He was certainly a special man. I am sorry to hear that David has passed away. When I was a young 14-year old in Grade 8 at WHS, way back in 1962/3, David was probably the person who started my interest in my chosen career path as a biologist. The encouragement he gave me and the time he spent after school to help me, even driving me down to Berwick to collect fertilized eggs to incubate back at the school, introduced me to the concept of experimental science. I went on to get a PhD and enjoyed a wonderful career in biological research and teaching at a number of universities. Thank you, David!
My sincere condolences to your family.
