Obituary of Carl Donald Dominey
Carl Donald Dominey, 79, of Lower Sackville, NS, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, February 9th, 2019 at the Arborstone Enhanced Care home in Halifax. Born in Kentville, NS, Carl was a son of the late Ralph and Hazel (Welsh) Dominey.
Although a fairly private man, Carl managed to endear himself to many including the amazing staff on the 3rd floor of Arborstone who cared for him and who became a part of our family. Over the course of his life, Carl moved his family numerous times and worked in various types of jobs, always with the intention of making a better life for his family. The last job he held before retirement was that of being a superintendent in various buildings in and around Halifax. Carl was a hard worker and took great pride in his accomplishments.
Besides serving God, Carl’s passions included fishing, bowling (with Sonya as one of his teammates), eating Sylvia’s homemade baked goodies, music -- both country and the 50’s/60’s rock and roll era as well as picking blueberries. In his later years, he and Tracy enjoyed many drives and eating ice-cream together. He found great enjoyment in woodworking and making projects for the grandchildren he adored. He is known and loved for his quirky sense of humour and corny jokes.
Carl is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sylvia (Reid) and his two daughters, Tracy (Lucien) Comeau, Dartmouth and Sonya (Bruce) Matheson, Halifax; his three grandchildren, Keith Partridge, Truro; Dominique Comeau, Ottawa; Zachary Comeau, Halifax; and his two great grandchildren, Xavier and Maxim Partridge; two brothers, Ivan (Donna), Black Rock; Joseph, Berwick; three sisters, Marguerite (Carl) Dennis, Coldbrook; Betty Pinch, Wolfville, Shirley Dominey, New Minas.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by six brothers, Stanley, Delancy, Gerald, Vaughn, Robert and Raymond; two sisters, Marjorie and Gladys.
By request, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, February 14th, 2019 at 11:00 am in the Wolfville Funeral Chapel with Reverend Carl Price officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Gideons International-Canada or to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Wolfville Funeral Chapel, 568 Main Street, Wolfville, B4P 1E5 (902-542-4656).
