Obituary of Steven John Belanger

Steven “Steve” John Belanger, 54 of Harmony  passed away on January 25, 2019 in Harmony.

Steve was born on July 23, 1964 in Barrie, ON.  He went to high school at Central Memorial, Calgary, AB and graduated in 1983.  He joined the Canadian Armed Forces in July 1984 and after training at CFB Borden, he became an IE Tech, later in his career an Avionics Tech.  He spent his 25-year career at CFB Trenton, ON and at 413 Sqn, 14 Wing, Greenwood. During operation Desert Storm in Qatar, he earned an Air Command Commander’s Commendation in recognition of service for his initiative in the repair of a serious electrical problem on a CC137 tanker in Doha, Qatar.  He also had two tours at Op Athena in Camp Mirage.

Steve’s passion was troubleshooting electronics and golfing with his buddies.

Steve is survived by his partner Lisa, Harmony and her son Logan, Hantsport; his mother Patricia Belanger, Comox, BC; his grandmother Jean McNeill, Berwick; his father-in-law Glen Paul, his mother-in-law Anne Paul, Greenwood; his brother-in-law Brad Paul, Okotoks, AB; his sisters-in-law Karen Tremblay, Edmonton, AB and Danielle Tremblay, Halifax; his mother-in-law Susan Paul, Ottawa, ON.

He was predeceased by his grandfather John McNeill.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Royal Canadian Legion and to the awesome support from family, friends and community during this difficult time.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 1, 2019 at 11:00 am in the Berwick Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Ivan Norton officiating. A private family committal will be held in the Aylesford Union Cemetery followed by a reception at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #98, Kingston. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kingston/Greenwood Mental Health Association or local SPCA.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Berwick Funeral Chapel, 192 Commercial Street, Berwick, NS, B0P 1E0 (902-538-9900).
