Obituary of Ruth Hilda Brown

Ruth Brown (Butts), passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 19, 2018 in Ocean View Manor in Eastern Passage. Born in New Waterford, in 1926, she worked at Eaton's before meeting and marrying Bill Brown n 1947. Ruth enthusiastically attended church services and social functions at Woodlawn United Church in Dartmouth, and enjoyed spending time with family, especially her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Ruth is survived by children Janet (Ron Perry), Helen (Fred Dixon), Charlie (Margot Hudson) and Wally. She is also survived by grandchildren Bill Dixon (Leanne Antoski), Annemarie Norwood (Josh), Corey Miller (Ren van Oord), Joel Miller (Erin), Brett Miller (Billie-Dawn), Brenton Brown and Laura Crowell-Brown. Finally, she is also survived by great-grandchildren, who know her affectionately as GG, Rachael and Rebecca Dixon, Hunter, Haidyn, and Jaxson Norwood, Juliet and Samuel Miller, Clark and Niall Miller and little Nora Miller-van Oord. Ruth was predeceased by her parents Jack and Helen (Shaw) Butts; her husband Bill Brown; her sisters Nita Butts and Vange (Butts) Ratchford; her brother-in-law Billy Ratchford; her son-in-law Brian Miller. A visitation will take place on Tuesday June 26, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Woodlawn United Church. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday June 27, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Woodlawn United Church. Family Flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Woodlawn United Church or charity of one's choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822).
