Obituary of Ingrid Lewis

Ingrid Lewis, 74 of Smiths Cove  passed away Saturday April 14, 2018, in the Digby Hospital after several months of illness.

Ingrid came to Canada in 1969 with Ivan and their family, from Germany. As a military family, they were posted to several bases across Canada until retirement from the Armed Forces and they settled in Smiths Cove.

Ingrid had many hobbies such as cooking, knitting, crocheting, gardening, hunting, fishing and camping. In her most recent years, Ingrid enjoyed her summers at Fox Mountain Campground, where she made many friends, shared good times and fond memories.

Ingrid is survived by her daughters Stefanie Budd (Bill Kempers) of Agassiz, BC; Vera (Luis) Domingues of Burnaby, BC; grandchildren Sasha Lee Budd, Ryan Stuart Budd, Amber Marie Little, Samantha Kaylene Lowe; great-grandchildren Kaylem Budd, Kadence and Kennedy Lowe; her sisters Helga (Rolf) Grunendahl and Ursula (Josef) Naber of Hamm, Germany.

She was predeceased by her husband and best friend, the late Ivan Newton Lewis and son Ian Newton Lewis.

The family wishes to thank the team of doctors, nurses and staff of Digby Hospital for all their care and compassion for Ingrid throughout her illness. Thank you to the VON and Home Care for their support.

A graveside service for Ingrid will be held on April 19, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Weymouth Church of Christ for immediate family only, followed by a Celebration of Life reception at 11:30 am at the Weymouth Legion for family and friends. Memorial donations may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses, (VON), the Canadian Red Cross or Digby Hospital Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr. (902-679-2822).
