Obituary of Shirley Avis Veinot

It is with great sadness to announce the death of our mother, Shirley Avis Veinot; age 88, of New Ross passed away April 13, 2018 in the Valley Regional Hospital. Born in New Ross, she was the daughter of the late Hazel Lantz and Sullivan Gates. Shirley was a member of the Women's Missionary Society, the Marjorie Delong Auxiliary and a life member of the New Ross Garden Club. She was also a founder and active member of the New Ross Historical Society. Her faith was strong and as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother she prayed for her family every night. She absolutely adored her family and was so very dearly proud of those that came before and after her, creating a love for her family genealogy. She had many passions: genealogy, gardening, amateur photographer, collector of memories and storytelling. She will be greatly missed by sons Glenn (Anne) of Chester; Derrick (Florence) of Edmonton, AB; Bruce (Gail) of North Alton; Ian (Jo) of New Ross; Dana (Coleen) of New Ross; daughters Joyce (Murray) Gates of Bridgewater; Holly (Robbie) Turner of New Ross; grandchildren, Stephen (Angela), Ronda (Michael), Wayne, David (Jennifer), Scott (Cathy), Laura (Brian), Jasmine (Geoff), Catlin (Katy), Hayley, Derek, Aiden and Jenna; great grandchildren, Justin, Briana, Gaven, Finley, Avery, Jade, Saege, Ava, Liam and Ashton; sister Edith Cavell (Robert) Smith of Victoria, BC; brother Bruce (Gloria) Gates of Ardoise. She was predeceased by her loving husband Maxwell Samuel Veinot, brother John and sister Mary in infancy; brother in laws, Paul and Vaughan Veinot, sister in law Joyce Russell Gates. A visitation will take place on April 17, 2018, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Forties Community Centre. A Funeral Service will be held on April 18, 2018, at 11:00 am in the New Ross United Baptist Church. Memorial donations may be made to the New Ross United Baptist Church, New Ross Volunteer Fire Department or a charity of your choice.
