It is with great sadness that the family of Linda Lorraine Quigley, of Truro Nova Scotia, announces her sudden passing on Wednesday, February 14th, 2018 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro Nova Scotia, at age 63 years. Born in Toronto, Ontario, she was the daughter of the late William Aldred Belfry and Christian Margaret Douglass.
Linda will be remembered for her special devotion and dedicated caring for those who were considered by society as less fortunate. Linda committed many personal hours to being a foster mother and serving on the board of Foster Parents for Canada, as well as the provincial and local Foster family Association of Ontario. She was the Executive Director for Deafness Advocacy Association of Nova Scotia, and as a social worker, she was deeply committed to creating the long-term care department for the deaf at Northwood Care Inc., Halifax NS. She was instrumental in founding of The Shelter for the Homeless in Truro. Linda was an advocate for all. Regardless of the situation, she would rise to the occasion and be there.
Linda is the cherished wife of Philip Quigley. She is the loving mother of Renée (Niels Konge) Lelièvre of Yellowknife, NWT; Nadia (Johnny Fong) Lelièvre of North Bay, ON; Daniel (Jill) Lelièvre of Verner, ON; Gilles Boucher of Sudbury, ON; step children Melodie (Patrick Slaunwhite) Quigley of Halifax, NS; Jason Quigley of Blues Mills, NS; Josh (Marla) Quigley of Fredericton, NB. She is a devoted grandmother to Leo, Tegan, Josh, Keiran, William, Bree, Danica, Brynn, Jordan, Emma, Leah and Maddie. Linda is the sister to Mardie (Don) Richard of Toronto, ON; Bill (Gloria Nicolau) Belfry of Markham, ON; Roberta Belfry (Ellen McConomy) of Guelph, ON; sister In Law of Donald (Janet) Quigley of Victoria West, PEI; David (Olga) Quigley of Mount Royal, PEI; Allen (Janet) Quigley of Truro, NS; and Mary Quigley of Victoria West, PEI. Linda will be missed by many nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family including the many foster children she had nurtured over the years.
Linda is predeceased by her grandson Jonas Konge, step son Jonathan Quigley and sister in Law Esther Quigley.
