Obituary of Dorothy Anne Joyce

Dorothy Anne Joyce, 94 of Kentville passed away on January 15, 2018 in the Orchard Court Nursing Home. Born in London, England, she was the daughter of the late Cyril and Nora (Barnes) Topp. Dorothy was the last surviving member of her immidiate family. During World War II, she was a member of the Women's Auxillary Air Force (RAF) in Preswick, Scotland and England. In 1955, Dorothy immigrated to Canada. There she was a member of the Canadian Girl Guide Association where she acted as District Commissioner for the Dartmouth area. For 18 years, Dorothy was an instructor of Elderobics for seniors. She was a dedicated member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in New Minas as well as a past member of the board committee. Dorothy is survived by her sons Douglas (Laura) Joyce of Bishopville/Hantsport; Peter (Joanne) Joyce of Lake Country, BC; daughter Susan Power of Airdrie, AB; grandchildren Kelley (Gerald Wright) Joyce of Cambridge; David (Cindy) Joyce of Aylesford; Terry (Coleen) Joyce of Kelowna, BC; Christian (Lisa) Joyce of Kelowna, BC; Pamela (Marty) Smith of Airdrie, AB; Tim Power of Calgary, AB and Michael Power of Calgary, AB. She was predeceased by her loving husband Ernest Joyce; brothers Douglas Topp and Ronnie Topp. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday January 26, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Seventh Day Adventist Church, New Minas. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Minas Seventh Day Adventist Church or Charity of One's Choice.
