Bertha "Jeanne" Bennett, 92 of Kentville passed away on Tuesday July 3, 2017 in the Orchard Court Shannex.
Jeanne is survived by her two daughters Sharon (Alan) Eaton and Nancy (David) Holt; her delightful five grandchildren and eight loving great grandchildren.
Jeanne was predeceased by her husband Lawrence; her son Donald (Audrey) Bennett and daughter Dawna (Ian) Hughes.
Jeanne was a gratuate of Kings County Academy in Kentville and the Provincial Normal College in Truro. Teaching young people was one of her talents and great joys in life.
As a member of the Trinity United Church in Canning, she served as a Sunday School Teacher and an Elder. Jeanne was a life member of the UCW. So many lifelong friendships were formed at this special place of worship. It was for her a place of very deep personal and spiritual growth.
In Pereaux, she enjoyed her membership in the Pereaux Community Club. In this community that was home for 37 years, she raised her family of four children. After moving to Kentville, she became a member and volunteer at the Kings County Historical Society. Jeanne always had a special place in her heart for the creative and knowledgeable staff. She enlarged on her own historical knowledge of her so beloved Kings County and enjoyed sharing that with visitors. Jeanne's professional and volunteer involvement reflected her profound love of people. She was always unconditional in her acceptance of people she encountered in her life.
There are SO many lives she touched in a positive way, SO many memories that bring a smile and show the wonderful person she was. SO many stories about how she made a difference or made someone's day. SO many hearts that are feeling sadness because she was HERE, because she was so LOVED.
The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to all the "Shannex Family" whose love and care was extraordinary. She admired and loved you all. Her family will be forever grateful.
No visitationwill take place by family request. A Private Family Service will be held at a later date in the Habitant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kings County Historical Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr. (902-679-2822).
