Dear Charlotte I was saddened to hear of Darrell's passing. It was always a good start to the day to have a chat with Darrell in the boys on 3725. I was always impressed by Darrell's knowledge of radios And his abilities to repair just about anything. I am sorry that I was not able to make it to Burwick to the funeral. I am unfortunately unable to travel at the moment. I hope to hear you on the air again soon. And until then 73 and 88

Darrell was a great friend for many years. We first met when I was stationed in Dartmouth,N.S in the 1970 seventies. We met via the 2 meter band on ham radio. Though we both travelled to different location with our jobs, we kept in touch over the years and remained friends. I will always cherish the fond memories of some of our encounters and adventures we both shared together. 73's Darrell

Darrell was definitely a wonderful, interesting and extremely intelligent guy. We spent hours on the phone discussing his VE1ALQ/F1EHN tracking system, and 2c39 amps and many other things. Unfortunately I never met him in person. I still have a huge Peter Dahl transformer he sent me that will do 4ku at 3A, all the way from VE1 to KL7. The last thing I got from him a few years ago was a box of water jacket parts and pieces for 2c39.
His website was a wonderful mix of all kinds of knowledge and I have been missing it ever since he took it down. This is definitely a great loss to our EME community.

Agree Jan, very sad news. Worked with Darrell for the first time in1998 an then met him twice personally. I still have his QSL as first VE to me on 70cm in DXCC. Also his construction of PLL VCO helped me as a beginner.

Likewise, I bought my as-el encoder from VE7BQH
which was one od Darrell's design (quite a few years back).
He also sold me his Eimac 50w TWTA for 10-GHz
(which I have since sold when it looked doubtful that I would
ever do a 3cm-eme). He was a prolific engineer and technician
as evidenced by the many project listed/ supplied on his website.
Big Loss for the eme Community

Hi eme'rs
Darrell helped me get on 1296 EME as a Elmer back in the late 1990's.
He built for us (Herb-K2LNS and me Andy-WA2FGK) pair of VE4MA feeds.
Barry's Super-Feed for 2300 MHz and scaled a 1296 MHz version. (Linear Feeds).
We were still using the 2300 MHz version up until last year.
He also provided us with six of those water jackets for the 7289's we were using on 1296 MHz back in the day.
Would have taken forever to get on air without his help.
Thanks Darrell and RIP.
