Obituary of Florence "Polly" Alma Murphy

Please share a memory of Florence to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Florence "Polly" Alma Murphy, 95 of Berwick passed away peacefully in the Grand View Manor in Berwick on March 24, 2017. Born on June 12, 1921 in Waterville, she was the daughter of the late Roderick and Cassie (Reese) Reeves. Polly was a long time member of the Christ Anglican Church in Berwick and enjoyed spending time with the congregation. Polly ran a household from a young age, due to needing to step in to be a mother role to her siblings. She loved her family and friends dropping in on a whim. She adored cooking and would welcome anyone to her table for a meal. Her gardens and flowers were a favorite past time of hers and playing cards was a hobbie she enjoyed. As time past and she was not able to get around as well, her interests moved to scratching crossword tickets, word find books and knitting dish cloths all while sitting on the sun porch. With the assistance of home care, she was able to stay in her home for many years until she went to the Grand View Manor five months ago. Polly has always seen the good in people and was sure to bring out the positive side of all situations. She is survived by her son Gerald (Myrna) Murphy of Kentville; daughter Betty (Edward) Corkum of Wilmot; grandsons Johnathan (Dawn) Corkum of Goose Bay, NL; Steven Corkum of Comox, BC; Peter (Joan) Corkum of Edmonton, AB; great grandchildren Reilly and Elissa; sister in law Mabel Reeves; many nieces and nephews. Polly was predeceased by her parents; husband Archibald Murphy; baby daughter; brothers Cecil, George, Marcus, Robert, Theodore, Edward and Lewis; sister Alice, Blanche, Dorothy and Eveline; good friend Lauchie Mitchell. A Funeral Service will be held on March 30, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Berwick Anglican Church. Family Flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one`s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, Berwick Chapel, 192 Commercial Street Berwick (902-538-9900).
