Gwendolyn June Hickey, 61 of Kentville passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 24, 2017 in the Valley Regional Hospital. Born in Wolfville, Gwen was the daughter of Eric and June (Eaton) Porter. She was a devote member of the First Cornwallis Baptist Church in Upper Canard. Gwen and her husband were very taken by the ocean scenes and traveled to many seasides in Nova Scotia. They were looking forward to a happy retirement on the south shore of Nova Scotia. Gwen is survived by her husband of almost thirty years, Edward Hickey; her mother June Porter; cousins Anne, Wendy and Kathy who she thought of dearly; special friends Brenda Pineo and Jocelyn McKenzie; her sisters in law; her brothers in law; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Eric Porter and brothers Gordon Porter and Blaine Porter. A visitation will take place on March 3, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and a Funeral Service will be held on March 4, 2017 at 2:00 pm, both will be held in the First Cornwallis Baptist Church, Upper Canard. Family Flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the First Cornwallis Baptist Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr. (902-679-2822).
