Obituary of Earle Travis Hardy
Please share a memory of Earle to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Earle Travis Hardy Jr-81, of Bridgetown passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 08, 2017 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family. Born in Bear River, he was the son of the late Earle and Mary (Small) Hardy.
Earle spent most of his career, 29 years, in the teaching profession, retiring from Nova Scotia Community College-Middleton campus. He often went above and beyond teaching his students Retail Merchandising. He loved the outdoors, having spent time guiding with his father in younger years. In later years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with friends and family at the camp on Knockwood Lake, Digby County. It was at this camp that he earned the lifelong nickname of "Doc". He was not opposed to stitching up a friend in need! Earle enjoyed playing guitar and could entertain you with his renditions of some of the classic country singers of his day.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, the former Marilyn Stark; daughter Susan Michelle (Peter) Francis, Bridgetown; son John Earle (Lisa) Hardy, Centreville; 2 bothers James (Myrna), Riverview, NB; David, Bear River and the light of his life, his 3 grandchildren, Haley (Lil' Joe), Arielle (Adam), and Riley (Sid).
He was predeceased by his brother Donald and his sister, Earlena.
The family wishes to thank Family Physician, Dr. Paul MacLean for over 40 years of care and the doctors and nurses on the medical unit at Soldiers Memorial Hospital.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr (902-679-2822). Cremation has taken place and at Earle's request, there will be no funeral or visitation services. A private family interment will take place at a later date in Paradise Cemetery, Paradise. Donations in memory may be made to the Lung Association of NS or a charity of choice.
