Please share a memory of William "Billy Expo" to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lapointe, William "Billy Expo" It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Expo at his home in Wolfville, N.S. on January 4, 2017. He was a beloved father, brother and loyal friend to many. Born on January 8, 1949 in Halifax, N.S., he was the son of William Ernest and Ruth (Joudrey) Lapointe of Dartmouth, N.S. Bill was the eldest sibling to Joanne (Harry Leet) of Brookfield, N.S., Sharon (Steve Brunt) of Hartford, N.B. and Allan (Heather Balaam) of Salmon Arm, B.C. Bill was born the self-proclaimed #1 fan of the Montreal Canadiens. Equally as important to him were the Montreal Expos, his namesake. He was dubbed "Expo" at an early age and carried the nickname throughout his lifelong baseball career as both player and coach. Bill recently retired from his 35-year career with Canada Post, a job that kept him close to his community. He was passionate about cooking, sports, music, storytelling, survival skills and all things Mexico – especially Puerto Escondido – his second home. Expo is survived by his three greatest loves, his children: Aja (Stephen Smee) of Calgary, A.B., Sophie and Marcus of Wolfville, N.S. No father was more proud of his children and their accomplishments. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr (902-679-2822). An open house celebration of Expo's life will be held on Friday, January 13th from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at The Merchant Wine Tavern, Main Street in Wolfville.
