Obituary of John Raymond Kennedy

It is with sad and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Raymond Kennedy, age 78 years, on 5 December 2016 in Valley Regional Hospital Kentville NS. John was diagnosed with cancer on 24 November 2016, and God in His mercy took John home so that he did not suffer long. John was the son of the late Frank Kennedy and Ella (Croft) Kennedy. John is survived by his wife of over 51 years, Carolyn Anne (Zwicker) Kennedy, West Brooklyn, sons, David (Wendy), Wolfville, Doug (Jennifer), Gaspereau and daughter, Leslie (Kevin) Wolfville. Also surviving are John's grandchildren whom he loved so very much: Brandon, Jordan, Jenny, Justin, Seth and Ella. His brother, Lawrence, Calgary and sister, Bernice Kennedy and her husband, Don Furlotte of Wilmot NS. Sister-in-law Dorothy (Wiley) Salsman, Berwick and brothers-in-law, Donnie (Judy), Barrie (Carol), Jackie (Linda), Gordie, Bobby (Brenda), Randy and Kevin (Trina) John is also survived by nieces VickiLynn DeBruin, Lisa Dorey and Roberta Read along with numerous, nephews, cousins and great nieces. Predeceasing John are brothers Wilfred, Roy, Albert, Hugh and sisters Hazel, Marie Frances and Shirley Weatherbee. John and Brandon spent many hours working on the West Brooklyn Baptist Church and were always ready to help when asked. John worked for many years at S.G. Levy and Sons Mill. John knew many people from work and from his years bowling and other recreational activities. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, Wolfville Chapel, 568 Main Street Wolfville (902-542-4656). A visitation will be December 8, 2016 at 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and a Celebration of Life service will be held on December 9, 2016 at 2:00 PM, both in the Wolfville Chapel. Pastor Barb Cochran, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the West Brooklyn Baptist Building Fund or charity of choice.
