Obituary of Joan Maxine Smith

Joan Maxine Smith, 78 of Wolfville, NS passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 in the Valley Regional Hospital. Born in Wolfville, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Vivian (O'Brien) Henderson. Devoted mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Joan loved to tell stories of the past and present, along with providing baking treats to all who arrived at her home. She enjoyed feeding and watching the birds in her back yard, knitting, daily phone calls with her Aunt Doris, county music and keeping in touch with family. Joan is survived by daughter Wanda Lake (Maurice Mytko), Wolfville, NS; granddaughters Rhonda (Darren) Brown, Wolfville, NS and Pamela Kutasienski, Collingwood, ON; sisters Barbara Seamone, Beverly (Bob) Wolfe, Kingston, NS and Ellen (Barrie) Doubleday, Comox, BC; and many nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by her parents and husband Hugh Smith, sister Vivian in infancy, and brothers William and Everett Henderson. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, Wolfville Chapel, 568 Main Street Wolfville (902-542-4656). A visitation will take place on December 4, 2016 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on December 5, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Wolfville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will take place at a later date in the Willow Bank Cemetery. Family Flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
