Pauline E. (McMahon) Meek Those we love don't go away, They walk beside us every day, Unseen, unheard, but always near, Still loved, still missed and very dear. With fond memories and great sorrow, we announce that Pauline Esther (McMahon) Meek passed away peacefully on November 13, 2016 at Orchard Court, Kentville. Pauline was a well-known resident of Canning where she lived most of her life. Born in 1931 she was the daughter of the late Francis and Mae (Woodworth) McMahon and beloved wife of the late Eric Meek. She is survived by sister Elizabeth (Libby) Caldwell, Sweets Corner; son Clifford (Elena), Toronto; daughters Janice (David) Pyke, Amherst and Nancy (Derek Pietersma), Canning; godchild Mary (Bill) Fitzpatrick, London, ON; caregiver Cheryl Baldomino, Canning; sister-in-law Freda Carter, Wolfville and six grandchildren: Justin Jorgenson, Kegan Jorgenson, John Pyke, Colton Pyke, Bill (Jr) Fitzpatrick and Peter Fitzpatrick as well as several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Karen (Jorgenson); brothers: Albert, Kenneth, Cyril, Paul (twin), Rev. William; sisters: Laura; Vesta Carey, and Carol Dobie. Pauline grew up in Aylesford, taught school for two years in a one-room school, then took a secretarial course at Mack Business College. She worked as a Court Reporter with a Provincial Magistrate (Judge) for a few years before starting her life with Eric and the family farm. She then did the accounting for the mixed farming operation for many years prior to computerization. Volunteering was one of Pauline's passions, she was very active in the Canning Fire Department, Canning United Baptist Church, Girl Guides Association, Women's Institute (local, Provincial, National & International), plus many other organizations/committees. In her spare time, she enjoyed travelling with her husband, relaxing in Scott's Bay, sewing and making handcrafts. She was a lifetime member of the RD's and was well known for her cooking/catering within the community. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr (902-679-2822). In keeping with Pauline's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private service will be held with immediate family. Interment will be held in the Spring/Summer at the Canard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Pauline may be made to the Valley Hospice Foundation (https://www.canadahelps.org/dn/15174) or to a charity of your choice.
