I was deeply saddened to just hear of Ron's passing.
Please accept my deepest sympathies to you Helen, and your family.
Ron (56), was the first detective I worked for on the Toronto Police Service MSS Section. We shared many memorable times together working, and ice fishing on Lake Scugog here in Ontario.
Ron was my mentor and a great friend.
Rest in Peace my Old Chum

RIP Uncle Ron... I will cherish the wonderful memories I have spending time out at College Grant with you and Aunt Helen. Those trips, especially when we would go out on the ATV were some of my happiest memories from childhood. I will always remember your little black poodle hitching a ride on the backseat. You once told me "I should have been born in a barn" because you recognized the love I had for the outdoors. That saying has stuck with me into adulthood - I think of it often because, it's true! I'm a country girl at heart and forever a Stewart! Until we meet again... please give Super Nana and Grampie a big from us all. Love you always, no matter the distance. XO

Very well written obituary. It wasn't until I left the hospital that I realized how much I will miss Ron. How I would've loved to of gone fishing with him! He had a huge curiosity for life and people in their quirky ways and loved to share in others opinions. I loved his company and his personality. I share in your loss. I love you guys to bits. ❤️

Helen and family;
We are truly sorry for your loss and will be thinking of you. Ron was simply a really good guy. I can remember Ron setting me up in a blind on the woodlot in College Grant one deer season. It may actually have been the last time I had a successful hunt. The gesture will not soon be forgotten.

My dad was bullet proof. In the past few years he suffered chronic pain.
All. The. Time.
Several years ago, he started a challenging journey, and we went with him. He went undiagnosed, was misdiagnosed, then began a series of medical errors and some bad luck that robbed him of a quality of life and ultimately, his untimely death. I am sad, I am pissed off, and I am so incredibly grateful that he is not in pain any more. I saw my dad in pain, a lot. My dad was bullet proof.
We went to so many doctor appointments, specialists, surgeons, emergency rooms, rapid assessments and ambulance rides, that I lost count. We told his story and medical history a thousand times, over and over. I know more about drugs now that I ever thought possible. I realized that we had been at emerge departments too many times when the nurses commented on my new hair style, and I admired the new ink on Amy, one of our ambulance drivers, lol.
I have learned that there are some exceptional doctors, nurses and support professionals working hard in a broken system doing amazing work despite their challenges. I learned that my parents loved each other unconditionally, and that my mom is the strongest woman I know. I learned that my dad can be “difficult” (okay, maybe I already knew that, lol) but that he trusted me with his life, literally.
Last month it was extremely difficult and painful for dad to ride in the truck and go to appointments, I picked him up and he was wearing a dress shirt, tie and dress pants. This show of respect was not lost on the doctor, she knew that was by far his only outing that day and he dressed for it. My dad was a class act.
I am heartbroken that the first man I ever loved, my hero, the one who has called me Princess, and treated me like one my whole life, is gone. I find comfort in the fact that we took care of business when the writing was on the wall. He and mom moved 100’ from us in July. Life on the lake, although too short, was wonderful. Dad taught Stewart how to read a compass, plant vegetables and gave him advice on how to handle himself with a bully. We cruised the lake in their new boat, he relaxed in his hammock watching the lake, listened to the loons and enjoyed a cigar and a nice glass of wine on the rare good days. My dad, was a class act.
I thank God for my husband Steve, for a million reasons including all the discussions to prepare Stewart for the loss of his beloved Papa Ron. In the final days of his life, the people who meant the most to him were there. Conversations that needed to happen, happened. Peace that needed to be made, was made. Appropriate closure for dad, and a gift to those of us with very heavy hearts figuring out the “new normal” in his massive absence.
We will start a new chapter, together. We are a family.
Princess out.
“Enjoy life. It is short but well worth the journey if only for the seeds sown that in my case yielded a special and growing family tree.” JR Stewart

I am heartbroken. I have lost my best friend of over 50 years. The last few days have been surreal. Even though Ron was ill for several years, I never imagined we would be here. My love will never be far away because he will always be in my heart. Thanks to family and friends for your love and calls for support, they are greatly appreciated during this difficult time. – Honey Bee
