The family of Frederick "Fred" Thomas Robinson, 67 of Digby; son of the late Arthur and Margaret (Hodgson) Robinson, are deeply saddened to announce his passing, following a lengthy illness, on Wednesday October 19 in the Digby General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Fred is the loving husband of Deborah (Robson) Robinson. They were very happily and lovingly together for 45 years and are the proud parents of three children Kara (Jody Handspiker) Robinson, Megan (Michael Thomas) Robinson and Arthur (Courtney Wilson) Robinson all of the Digby area. Fred also has a sister Mary (Keith Woodman) Blanchard and was predeceased by his parents. Fred was a very devoted and doling grandfather to his grandchildren Fred and Noble Robinson, Hailey Robinson and Catherine Moore to whom he was lovingly and reverently known as GiGi. He was extremely proud and fond of all four of them and delighted in spending many fun filled, quality hours with them. His love for his Nieces and Nephews was immense. A big man, as well as big hearted, Fred was a well-known, liked and respected in Digby. His career spanned 4 ½ decades and allowed him to work with Courtney Drug Wholesalers in Saint John, NB, Marine Atlantic in Moncton, NB and Upper Clements Theme Park. He also owned and operated the Red Raven Pub in Digby. His wife and children were ever present as employees and supporters of the Red Raven business. He was also actively involved in aquaculture in the local area. His love and mindfulness of life was exceptional. His interests were vast and varied. Fred cherished time in nature and being outdoors especially with his grandchildren. He had an exceptional love for hunting, fishing, sports, politics, photography, sailing, hiking and rock hunting. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr (902-679-2822). There will be no visitation by family request. A Funeral Service will be held on October 22, 2016 at 3:30 in the Digby Grace United Church, 19 Prince Willam St. Reception will follow in the Church Hall. Family Flowers only. It would be sincerely appreciated by the family if memorial donations be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Canadian Liver Foundation.
