It is with heavy hearts that the children of Lorraine Melba (Walsh) Sewards announce her passing on Saturday October 8, 2016 in The Valley Regional hospital. Mom died peacefully surrounded by her family. Born July 31, 1940 in Coldbrook, Mom was the youngest child of the late Clinton & Edith (Farris) Walsh. Mom loved family potluck suppers, play cards (45"s), Sports, Knit, Tole Paint, Embroidery, and Jigsaw Puzzles. She was very passionate of politics since her Dad introduced her to them at 10 years old Mom was an excellent seamstress, she sewed most of our clothes when we were younger trimmed with cotton daisies and designed and made our wedding dresses. But her greatest Joy was her grandchildren. She had a special bond with each grandchild. She worked at Steadmans when she was younger and that is where she met our Dad. Mom & Dad owned and operated Town Taxi and Sewards' Groceteria in Meadowview. She then worked at the BFM & Miller and Valley Regional Hospital until she retired. Mom was the Noble Grand of St Eulalie Lodge, President of L.A.P.M of the Atlantic Provinces, President of the Canning and District PC Women. She is survived by her children Lynn Sewards (Peter Best) of Kingston; Karen Sewards (Edwin Copeland) of Slave Lake, AB and Anthony (Tony) Beata of Edmonton, AB; grandchildren Aaron (Natasha) Sewards of Red Deer, AB; Bryce (Kristen) Bent of Edmonton, AB; Andrew Bent of Slave Lake, AB; Kyle (Sandra) Bent of Edmonton, AB; Cody (Melissa) Copeland of Edmonton, AB; Mark Sewards of Calgary, AB and finally a girl!! Sarafina Sewards of Edmonton, AB; great grandchildren Adam Swanson (Lilliwyn), Jaxon and Rachel Sewards of Red Deer, AB and Brayden & Rylen Bent of Edmonton, AB; sisters Doris Walsh of New Minas and Bernice Lloyd of North Alton; as well as many nieces and nephews She was predeceased by our Dad Daniel (Danny) Sewards, brothers Donald Walsh and Alden Walsh. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr (902-679-2822). Private Family Graveside Service on Monday October 17, 2016 at 3.00 pm. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Donations to the Diabetes Department at Valley Regional Hospital and Open Arms Kentville.
