Obituary of Austin Charles Kerr

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Austin Charles Kerr on Thursday October 7, 2016 at the age of 79, surrounded by his wife and daughters. He was born on January 15, 1937 in New Carlisle, Quebec.
Austin will be deeply missed by his wife Edie of 58 years, daughters Sharon (Terry); Cathy (Danny); Lori (Steven) and Heather (Jason). Grandchildren Sammy; Lexie; Kelly; Ryan; Mitch; Jill; Lauren; Emily and Nicholas and great granddaughter Lucy.
He was preceded by his parents Bert and Jean Kerr siblings Bob, Kay, Billy, Rena and Donnie.
Shortly after enlisting in the R.C.A.F. he was posted to Toronto where he met the love of his life. After leaving the Air Force, the family moved to New Carlisle, Quebec where he started with the fisheries. From Quebec, the family moved to various places in Nova Scotia before settling in Dartmouth.
Austin worked for Fishery Products, Richmond Fisheries, Nickerson's and C.E.O. of Baader Canada. He served as President of the Fishery Council of Canada.
He was a loving man who cared for his family and will be deeply missed. He was also a longtime member of the United Church, a member of the Masonic Lodge and a Shriner.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Dartmouth General Hospital, Port Wallace United Church or the Shriner's Children's Hospital in Montreal.
The family would like to thank the staff at emergency and ICU units at Dartmouth General Hospital for their compassionate care.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr (902-679-2822). On Wednesday October 12, 2016 there will be a Masonic service at 6:00 pm and a Celebration of Life at 7:00 pm at the Port Wallace United Church, 263 Waverley Rd. with Rev. Ivan Gregan officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dartmouth General Hospital, Port Wallace United Church or the Shriner's Children's Hospital in Montreal, Quebec.
