Obituary of Stanley Eugene Sherman
Please share a memory of Stanley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Stanley Eugene Sherman, 86 of Canning passed away with his loving family by his side on October 5, 2016 in Evergreen Home for Special Care. Born on February 22, 1930, he was a son of the late Theo and Mary Sherman of Canning.
All of his life was spent in the Canning area with his family and many friends. He loved his home in Canning. He loved listening to music, singing and yodelling; he loved Wilf Carter and dancing. He loved Hockey and Blue Jays Games. We will miss his quick smile, kind heart, warmth and compassion and his constant whistling. He was especially proud of his 40 plus years of service as a Volunteer for Canning Volunteer Fire Department. He was a proud member of the Canning Legion and helped out with many fund raisers. He picked apples, dug potatoes in fall and then worked at Canard Poultry where he met many friends. For the past four years, Evergreen Nursing Home For Special Care became home and part of his family.
Stanley is survived by his 4 children Eugene (Florence) of Riverview, New Brunswick; Gloria (Richard) of Bedford, Nova Scotia; Shirley (Rick) of Centreville, Nova Scotia; Robert (Diane, recently deceased) of Riverview, New Brunswick; 10 grandchildren, Andrew (Marlene); Stephen (Angie); Christopher (Emma); Adam (Lisa); Sarah (Matt); Anastasia (Mitch); Katrina (Jordan); Erin (Jamie); Matthew and Donnie; 6 great grandchildren, MacKenzie, Oliver, Kirsten, Jace, Caleb and Norah; brother Robert (Diane) of Canning, Nova Scotia.
Predeceased by his loving wife of 66 years Muriel (Fraser) Sherman, brothers Maurice and John, sisters Myrtle, Ella and Josephine.
Stanley was a much loved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be sadly missed by many, but especially by his family and friends.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Evergreen whose extraordinary kindness, compassion and dedication helped Stanley feel at home and brought many a chuckle.
