Please share a memory of Marie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marie Genevieve Nelson, 72 of Berwick passed away September 30, 2016 in the Valley Regional Hospital. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland on February 9, 1944, she immigrated in 1946 as a war baby and resided in the Purcell's Cove and Spryfield areas. She was born to Wilfred Patrick and Willamina Darby (Brown) Gale.
A year of suffering has just ended with the peaceful passing of a Dear Dear wife, loving mother and mother in law, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt, with family by her side.
During her working years she was a secretary for Sears, she also worked in the catalogue return dept., which she thoroughly enjoyed. She worked for many years as a florist at Charles & Vern Flower Shop, which she had a great talent and many happy times.
She was a woman who loved family gatherings, sitting around a camp fire with friend and family with a little toddy. She loved the beach, shopping and bingo. She enjoyed all of the trips out west, to PEI, bingo trips with her favorite daughter and Vegas was her favorite. She also attended her children and grandchildren sports events, she was a great fan.
Marie had a great personality and got along with everyone, she could spot a phoney a mile away. Christmas was very special to her and she planned for it all year. She loved to call her Johnny for everthing, she said he was her secret weapon. She was also a member of the Roman Catholic Church.
Left to grieve, she was survived by husband of 54 years John -Johnny- Gerald Nelson; daughter Tracy Dawn (John) Romeril of Waterville; sons Brent Douglas (Shelley) Nelson of Sackville; John Stuart (Lisa) Nelson of Ontario; Todd Christopher Nelson of Waterville; grandchildren Melissa Nelson, Amanda Nelson, Trevor Romeril, Derek Nelson and Joshua Nelson; great grandchildren Carter, Leah and Marie Nelson; brothers Ronald Gale of Ottawa and Kenneth (Rosalie) Gale of Clarence; sisters Shirley (Charles) Hynes of British Columbia; Judy (John) Engram of Alberta and Angela (Greg) Gilson of Ottawa.
Marie was predeceased by her parents.
