It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, father in law, brother, brother in law, uncle and friend. Marvin Ruben Rafuse, 78 of Upper Vaughan, NS passed away in Hants Community Hospital on Monday, September 26, 2016 with his loving family by his side. Born March 23, 1938, he was the eldest son of Bob and Lena Rafuse. Marvin was a lifelong member of Upper Vaughan Baptist Church. He was a trustee of the Upper Vaughan Community Hall. He was very devoted to his community, very proud of living in Upper Vaughan his entire life, always giving a helping hand to make his community a better place. He had just as much passion for his family and loved spending time with them as well. Marvin was employed with Nova Scotia Power from 1955 – 1993, where he finished his career as District Supervisor. He also spent countless hours on his tractor in the woods cutting. He enjoyed working with wood from creating a wooden cutting board to a wheel barrow. He was known for is sauerkraut, and always enjoyed watching and feeding the birds. Marvin and Iva celebrated their 59th anniversary on August 30 of this year and will be dearly missed by the love of his life. He is survived by his wife Iva (Fuller) Rafuse; daughters Karen (Gordon); Debbie (Phillip); Shelley (Glen); Nancy (Andy); Tara (Barry); son Todd (Elaine); 15 grandchildren Devin; Tyler; Kaitlyn; Amanda; Ashley; Tom; Troy; Katie; Amy; Laura; Luke; Nicole; Colby; Blake and Zack; 11 great grandchildren Aaliyah; Kaden; Izabellah; Brayden; Brea; Bentley; Kinley; Rowan; Harley; Thomas and Kaya; brothers Karl "Vic" (Judi); Bernie (Mary); sisters Joyce (Ron) and Donna (Ian); sisters in law Wava and Anna and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Marvin was predeceased by infant son David, his parents and brother Maurice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr (902-679-2822). The family are carrying out his wished by having a celebration of his life at his home, 832 Hwy 14 on Friday, September 30th between 2pm-4pm. Drop in and share a memory. Family Flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Upper Vaughan Baptist Church or Palliative Care at Hants Community Hospital. Special thank you to the nurses nad Dr. Catherin Smith for their excellent care.
