Obituary of Howard Thomas Hartnett

Howard "Howie" Thomas Hartnett, 89 of Halifax, NS passed away on Monday, September 5, 2016 in the QEII Health Science Centre, after a short illness, surrounded by his family. Howie was a lifetime member of St. Theresa's Church in Halifax. He worked at Maritime Tel & Tel for close to 50 years and after retirement, he enjoyed spending time with family, listening to country music and watching the old time movies. He also enjoyed being a spectator of baseball games at the Wanderers Grounds and an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Howie is survived by his loving wife Alma (Peters) of 63 years; sons Bobby (Debra), Paul (Janet,) Tom (Margaret); daughters Deborah (Bob), Judy (Wayne); 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; brother Richard (Clara) and sister Helen. He was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Mildred, sister Doreen, brother Paddy and infant daughter Anne Marie. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr (902-679-2822). Cremation has already taken place. A Funeral Mass will be held at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Howard's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Victorian Order of Nurses.
