Obituary of Alexander Joseph Currie

CURRIE, Alexander Joseph (Joe), 80, of Digby. It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Alexander Joseph Currie. He was the son of the late Duncan and Luci (Campbell) Currie. After 25 yrs in the RCN (Bull) he worked at CFB Cornwallis. He was the active member of the Digby Legion, Branch # 20, serving as President, along with Digby Fire Department. He loved the water and being in the Navy, where he toured the world. He was a wonderful man with a great sense of humor and lots of friends, he will be missed. He is survived by his wife of 59 yrs Dorothy (Perry), daughters Kathy (David) Leblanc, Joanne (Jim) Dunn and his pride and joy, his grandchildren Darren (Jada) Harvieux, Katie (Adam) Verrette, Jenna (Rick) LeBlanc and Morgan LeBlanc, three great-children Landon, Kyle and Henley, sister Linda (Gus) Hazalaar and brother Duncan (Pat) Currie. He was predeceased by brothers Weldon, Brian, James and sisters Norma, Hilda, Gerarda. And just at the moment when someone at my side says; "There, he is gone!" there are other eyes watching him coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout; "Here he comes!" - Henry Van Dyke Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr (902-679-2822). As per his request no visitation. A Service will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Roman Catholic Church in Digby. Family Flowers only.
