Shirley May Hutchins, 80, of Digby, NS died peacefully at home with family by her side.
It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Hutchins announces her passing on June 6, 2016. She was born on April 7th, 1936 in Toronto, Ontario. She was the daughter of the late Olive and Lorne Brimacombe.
In earlier years Shirley was a member of the Digby General Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and held her position for many years. She belonged to the Trinity Anglican Church in Digby where she met many wonderful people. She was a hard worker and always took care of her family first. She was an avid reader and loved a good book. Her favorite part of the day was when she settled in her chair with her fur baby "Morgan" to watch Coronation Street. Shirley and her husband Rod took many trips to Florida where they enjoyed the sunshine and flea markets.
Shirley is survived by her husband Rodney Hutchins; her children Randy (Janice), Ronald (Karen) and Christine; grandchildren Jennifer, Scott, Cody and Alyssa; great-grandchildren Madison, Wesley, Atilla, Malik, and Makai, her brother Irving (Shrley) Kerwin of Toronto, Ontario and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley's family will miss her presence in their lives, but she will remain in their hearts until they meet again.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Valley Regional Hospital for the care she received when she was there. To the VON, Home Care and Palliative Care team, you are all truly amazing, caring and compassionate people. We couldn't have kept Shirley at home without all the support you gave us, Thank-you from the bottom of our hearts.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Coldbrook Funeral Home & Chapels, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr (902-679-2822). Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Shirley's Life will be held on Tuesday, June 14th at 2:00 pm at the Trinity Anglican Church in Digby, NS In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
