Obituary of Leo Clarence Davison
Please share a memory of Leo to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Leo Clarence Davison, 77, of New Minas, NS, passed away May 1, 2016 in the Valley Regional Hospital.
Leo was the tenth born to Alfred Otis and Edith Jane (Schofield) Davison. After finishing school in Greenfield, Kings Co., NS, Leo began working with Maritime Marshland Rehabilitation Administration (Dykeland Surveying). His interest in the fuel industry started in 1959 when he was employed with Howard Whidden Fuels (Esso Fuel Distributor) Oil Truck Driver, then moving on to work with Davison Fuels Ltd (Fina/Petro Canada Fuel Distributor) Oil Truck Driver (worked for his brothers Bedford and Paul who founded DFL). He then moved on to work with Neil and Lorenda MacKenzie up to 1998 and then became Owner and Operator of Davison Fuels Ltd until retiring in 2004.
Leo was a huge fan of the Montreal Canadiens and the New York Yankees. Being a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #74 (Wolfville, NS), he played softball for the Legion teams for many years. Leo was an avid sportsman, bowler and softball pitcher well into his 50's, even pulled Tug O War for "Valley Sports" for much of his early life. Even though sports and family had kept Leo busy he was always able to find time for a special friend named Lenny (his cat).
Leo is survived by his wife Carlon (Zwicker) Davison, his sons. Glendon (Anne) Davison of Centreville, NS and Darrell (Susan) Davison of Wolfville, NS, daughter Donna Acker of New Minas, NS, brothers Paul, Chesley, Charlton, Kenneth Davison all of Wolfville, NS and Laurie Davison of Calgary, AB, sisters Myrtle (Ealick) Davison of New Minas, NS and Ruth (Joe) Thomas of Kentville, NS, grandchildren Adam, Andrew, Ryan, Evan, Steven, Brycen and Amber.
