George was a graduate of West Kings, Auburn and Kings Regional Vocation, Kentville graduating with a Bookkeeping Certificate. He worked in the construction industry as a bookkeeper with NS Steel and various contractors for many years. George was devoted to his family and care of his mother and sister Alice. Time spent with family meant a great dear to George. Holidays, especially Christmas and family celebrations were among his happiest days. George had a wicked sense of humor, a keen interest in politics and was our go to person for useful information he always had at his fingertips. His interests included model cars, duck carving, gaming, movies, music especially Blue Grass and Leonard Cohen. George shared a love of hockey and a loyalty to the Montreal Canadians with his Mom. Road trips, shopping, yard sales and flea markets, woodworking and crafting were happy times spent with Alice. One road trip in particular involving a Green Leprechaun Hat has become a family favorite. Scotia, the family Duck Toller and Nova, George's devoted Fur Buddy provided him with great comfort and entertainment. George loved his Valley childhood days and time spent there with extended family. He will have found peace in his return. George will be dearly missed and forever loved by his family. "Do not stand at my grave and weep, "I am not there, I do not sleep. "I am a thousand winds that blow; "I am the diamond glints on snow. "I am the sunlight on ripened grain: "I am the gentle autumn's rain. "When you awaken in the morning's hush, "I am the swift uplifting rush "Of quiet birds in circled flight. "I am the soft star that shines at night. "Do not stand at my grave and cry. "I am not there; I did not die.
