Obituary of Alice "Muriel" Fitch

Alice “Muriel” Fitch (Dixon), 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 6th, 2016, surrounded by family.
Born in Saint John, NB and raised in Kingston and Annapolis Royal, Muriel moved to Kentville as a young adult, where she attended Mac Business College, and continued to live there with her husband of 70 years.
Upon graduating from business school she began work as a bookkeeper for Willet Fruit Company, followed by P.R. Ritcey Wholesalers. After leaving P.R. Ritcey she went to work in the Business Office at Acadia University, where she remained until her retirement. For a number of years, Muriel also managed the ticket sales and books for The Paramount Cinema and The Valley Drive-In.
Her main interest was her family, but she also enjoyed many years of trailering, traveling, gardening, card games and various functions at St. Mary’s Anglican Church.
Muriel was predeceased by her parents Lloyd and Annie Dixon (Rutherford), brother Allan and sister Maxine (Freeman). She is survived by her husband Robert “Bob”, son Allan, sister Jean, and two grandchildren, Naomi Bacon (Josh) and Jacob Duboy-Fitch. She will forever be remembered as a loving sister, wife, mother and grandmother.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home and Chapels, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Drive, Coldbrook, NS (902-679-2822). A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Annapolis Valley Regional Hospital or St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Auburn, NS.
