Please share a memory of Ida to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with loving memories that we say goodbye to our mother and grandmother, Ida May (Balsor) Gould, 92. Who passed away peacefully, surrounded with her family by her side on March 26, 2016 after a long and joyful life. She was born in Black Rock on November 20, 1923. A daughter of Archibald and Marion (Foote) (Balsor) Turner. Ida was a long standing member of the Black Rock Baptist Church and Jolly Workers Sewing Circle, as well as a VON Quilters “Sore Fingers”. She will be remembered as someone who enjoyed her family and friends. She was always making sure that everyone was well taken care of and well fed. You would never leave Ida’s hungry or empty handed. She spent countless hours tending to her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens, which she enjoyed and shared with others. She made sure every family member had one of her homemade quilts and everyone was kept warm whether it be with her homemade socks for her son-in-law or mittens for all the grandkids. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her sons Frank (Eileen) Gould, Brian (Charlene) Gould, and daughters Kathleen (Ronald) O’Donnell, Elizabeth Keddy, and Heather (Gary) Bonn as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Marion Balsor, several nieces and nephews. She was the last living member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter of 49 years, daughter-in-law Judy Gould, and grandson Andrew O’Donnell. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Berwick Funeral Chapel, 192 Commercial St., Berwick (902-538-9900). No visitation by Ida's request. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 1:00pm at the Serenity Lindsay Berwick Chapel. Pastor Christina Bigelow and David Crocker officiating. Reception will follow immediately after the service. Burial at the Black Rock Cemetery will be family only. Family Flowers only. Memorial donations can be made to the Black Rock Cemetery or Black Rock Baptist Church.
