Obituary of Minnie Maurietta Stoddard

Minnie Maurietta (Dorman) Stoddard of Falmouth, passed away peacefully in the early morning of March 18th 2016 in the Valley Regional Hospital, at the age of 89. Minnie was born September 10th 1926 in Newtonville, Kings County, the youngest child of the late William and Carrie (Coldwell) Dorman.
Minnie was a registered nurse who trained at the Shriners Hospital and the Royal Victoria in Montreal, Quebec and at the Payzant Memorial Hospital in Windsor, Nova Scotia where she graduated in 1948. Minnie enjoyed her cottage in Black River Lake as well as traveling, reading, and sewing.
She is survived by her husband Perley, sister Edra (Bunnie) Mercer, children Barbara (Brad Tatham), Sherri (David) Allen, and John (Iona), grandchildren Michael (Jaime), Carolyn (Bryan), Devin, Joseph (Shelley) Allen, Jonathan (Robyn) Allen, Khaleena Baksh, Nicholas, Mahogany 'Serena' Duncan and Wayde Duncan. She is also survived by her eight great grandchildren Keith, Luke and Daniel Allen, Shania Baksh, Mika Duncan, Alycia Duncan, and Raimee Duncan and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her siblings Lloyd, Glenn, Willa, Phoebe, Lottie, and Bertha, eldest son David (Ellen), grandson Matthew, and great granddaughter Hope Allen.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay, Wolfville Funeral Chapel (902-542-4656). Cremation has already taken place. At Minnie's request, a Celebration of Life will take place March 22nd from 2 to 4 pm at the Windsor Legion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Falmouth Community Hall or the Valley Regional Hospital.
