Myrtle Gertrude (Corkum) Bennett, 89 of Canning passed away on March 5, 2016 in Evergreen Nursing Home, Kentville.
Myrtle was a very positive happy spirited woman who loved having her family around and would always welcome anyone to visit anytime and never hesitated to add one more plate to the table. She loved a game of Bingo (7 nights a week if she could) she also loved driving to Port George and Blomidon for a day of yard sales or Frenchy shopping when she could. She loved to make quilts over the years and made sure one was left with as many family as possible. She would give anyone anything she had and go without to see them happy.
Myrtle was predeceased by her husband Chester Robert Bennett, parents, Harold Austin and Mary Etta Corkum (Rand), son Wendell Vernon and greatgrandson Damion, sister Isabell and brothers Hollis, Whitfield, and Sheldon.
She is survived by one daughter Eleanor (Richard) Graves, Canning, sons Arthur, Kingston, Bruce (Heather), Sheffield Mills, brother David Corkum (Evergreen Nursing Home), sister Leora Coles Alberta, sister-in-law Merolyn Corkum, Cambridge, daughter-in-law Rhoda Bennett, Somerset. 8 grandchildren; Janice (Leon) Middleton, Blaine, Somerset, Judy, New Minas, Wanda (Mike), Greenwood, Tracy (Leslie) Bedford, Billy (Melissa) White Rock, Trudy (Charlie) Kentville, and Jason, Sheffield Mills, 10 great grandchildren; Tyler and Dante Bennett, Bret (Catherine) Graves and Micheal Wharton, Jessica and Joshua Metcalf, Landon and Grace Gee, Ava and Liam Bennett along with one great-greatgrandchild, Sophia Metcalf.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Wolfville Funeral Chapel, 568 Main Street Wolfville (902-542-4656) where a visitation will take place on Thursday March 10th from 7-9 pm. A Funeral service will be held on Friday March 11th at 2:00 pm in the Wolfville Funeral Chapel. Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. Interment to take place at a later date.
