Obituary of Evelyn Matilda Swinemar

Evelyn Matilda (Turner) Swinemar, 95, of the Forties in New Ross NS, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at the Berwick Grandview Manor. Evelyn loved sewing and was especially gifted at wedding dresses, square dance outfits, quilting, knitting and rug hooking and in her spare time you would find her in her flower gardens. She was a dedicated member of the Garden Club, Square Dance Club, and the ACW. Evelyn leaves behind to mourn her daughters: Sharon Rafuse and Beatrice (Frank) Meister of New Ross. Four grandchildren: Griffin Rafuse, Barbara (Mathew) Chandler, Kevin (Beverly), Neil (Deanna) Meister, eight great-grandchildren: Alexander and Lincoln Rafuse, Taylor, Samantha and Charlotte Chandler, Brendon, Chantel and Cory Meister, brother, Frank (Mary Ann) Turner and sister in laws, Bertha and Muriel Turner. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Ernest Emmerson Swinemar, father and mother Charles and Lena (Hiltz) Turner, brothers, Archie (Florence), Edgar, Philson and sister Birdie (Ralph). Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home and Chapels (New Ross Chapel). Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to The Berwick Grandview Manor, Christ Church Cemetery or charity of one’s choice. On line condolences may be made by visiting www.serenitylindsayfuneralhome.ca. A memorial service will be held Wednesday January 27th, 2016 at 2.00 pm at the Christ Anglican Church, New Ross with Reverend Judi Phillips officiating. There will be no visitation. Interment will be at a later date. Reception to follow at the New Ross Fire Hall. The Family would like to thank all the staff at The Grand View Manor for their wonderful care, respect and consideration given to Evelyn and her family during their time of need.
