Life Legacy
SCHNARE, DONALD EDGAR - It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Donald Edgar Schnare, 77, Berwick, on October 26, 2015. Born in Berwick he was the son of the late Edgar and Eugenia (Steadman) Schnare; a loving brother to Dorothy (Ken) Salsman; Pauline (Willis) Eisner, Carolyn (Pierre) Daoust; Glenda (Gary) Wilneff and Madeline (Reinhold) Endres. He was an exceptional uncle to 16 nieces and nephews. Educated in Berwick and Acadia University, he chose a career in teaching and for 32 years enriched the lives of students and staff at Liverpool High and Western Kings where he also held the Vice Principal position. Don was a gifted gardener, and enjoyed nature's beauty which he captured in his paintings, and through feeding and protecting birds, both wild and tame. Equally important to Don was his love of music and his years devoted to the Kings Chorale, the Nova Scotia Symphony Chorus, and the Royal International Tattoo Choir, singing tenor. A compassionate man, Don volunteered for the Canadian Red Cross. Another charity Don felt strongly about was the SPCA, perhaps due in part to the love and companionship he shared with Benji, his Yorkie poodle. A Celebration of Don's life will be held on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 1:00p.m. in the Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home, Berwick Funeral Chapel (192 Commercial St.) Rev. Ruby Carter officiating. Reception to follow with interment in the Berwick Cemetery. Donations in Don's memory would be appreciated by the Red Cross, SPCA or a chosen charity. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, Berwick Chapel (902) 538-9900.
