Ian Mckie passed away peacefully at the Valley Regional Hospital, on August 26th, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Ian was born on February 13th, 1937 in Crewe, England to the late Millicent (Pickford) and Wilfred Mckie. Ian spent his years in Alsager and completed his Merchant Marine Engineering training in Glasgow, Scotland. He spent many years in the Far East as Chief Engineer. He loved his time at sea, and this continued throughout his life, as he enjoyed canoeing with his many friends. Ian met the love of his life Teresa in Liverpool, England where she was a registered Nurse/Midwife. They married and had three children. Later they moved to Canada in 1979, first to Oshawa, Ontario and then to the beautiful Annapolis Valley where he was employed by Michelin Tires Ltd. Ian loved gardening as was evident by his beautiful property he cared for lovingly. Leaving to live through his memories are his wife (Teresa); sons, Joseph; Stuart (Lindsay); daughter, Michele (Paul); grandchildren Ian, Bronwen, Duncan, Taylor, Zachary, Luke and his special dog Sheeba as well as his many great friends over the years. Predeceased by brothers Alec and John; sister Janet. Ian will be interred at the Holy Cross Cemetary on September 5, 2015 at 11a.m. Father Gerald Saulnier officating. Special thanks to Gerry Mills, pharmacist; Doctors Merryweather, Burgess and Barry as well as the staff at Oncology and Surgical floors at the Valley Regional Hospital.
