Obituary of Horst Gilbert Koch

Please share a memory of Horst to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
'There are moments in our life when the world stands still, and when it starts to move again there won't be anything as it was before' Dr. Phil. Horst Gilbert Koch (1935 – 2015) Canning, passed away peacefully on August 16th at his home in the arms of his loving wife. Horst was a philosopher and an adventurer, he travelled together with his wife over half the world. Besides this, he made his living as an Export Manager (and liked to be needed with a German Company for help and advice), even after being in Nova Scotia for more than 22 years. Horst received his Canadian Citizenship, together with his wife, more than 10 years ago and was so proud of it. He liked Nova Scotia so much that they decided to settle here forever. Horst is survived by his wife Ruth (together for 53 years as partners, soulmates and best friends, and were married for 47 wonderful, fullfilled years); brothers Hans Koch and Arnfried; and a sister Marianne (of Germany). Predeceased by his parents Fritz and Gohranna (Thiel) Koch, Germany and a brother Siegfried, South Carolina, USA. Because of his always calm, friendly, helpful and modest nature he was loved by everyone who got to know him from all over the world, especially his best friend and business partner Rolf. I would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all the staff of the VON including the Palliative Care who helped us through the most challenging time we experienced. They are the most caring and special people we ever met. I'll never forget! Without their non stopping care I would not have been able to keep my husband with me at home, they made it happen and everyone should remember this! Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service by request. " I couldn't have made this journey without you - many thanks for everything you put me through!" You'll be always in my heart until we are together again (your loving wife Ruth). Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home (Wolfville Funeral Chapel) 902-542-4656.
