Please share a memory of Muriel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
SHERMAN, MURIEL ELLA, Age 83 of Canning passed away with her loving husband Stanley and children by her side on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Evergreen Home for Special Care. Born on August 19, 1931 Muriel was a daughter of the late Hibbert and Margaret (Caldwell) Fraser, Canning Mountain. Most of her life was spent in the Canning area with her family and many friends. She loved her home in Canning and did not want to leave when she had to, due to ailing health. She loved listening to Stanley sing and yodel; she loved poems and cards and was forever writing down special versus from cards from her family and friends and then saving them. She loved gardening, beach combing, collecting rocks and dancing. We will miss her quick smile, kind heart, her warmth and compassion as she never had an unkind word about anyone. Muriel was a stay-at-home mom for many years. She was especially proud of her 40 years of service as a Volunteer for Canning Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. In her later years, after her children were raised, she did many jobs picking apples, digging potatoes in fall along side Stanley and then worked at Canard Poultry where she met many friends. For the past two years Evergreen Nursing Home For Special Care became home and part of their family. Stanley and the family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Evergreen whose extraordinary kindness, compassion and dedication made Muriel feel at home and brought many a chuckle. Surviving is her devoted husband of 66 years Stanley and 4 children Eugene (Florence), Riverview, New Brunswick; Gloria (Richard), Bedford, Nova Scotia; Shirley (Rick) Centreville, Nova Scotia; Robert (Diane) Riverview, New Brunswick; twin sister Marie, Canning, Nova Scotia; 10 grandchildren, Andrew (Marlene); Stephen (Angie); Christopher (Emma); Adam (Lisa); Sarah (Matt); Anastasia (Mitch); Katrina (Jordan); Erin (Jamie); Matthew and Donnie and her 5 great-grandchildren, MacKenzie, Oliver, Kirsten, Jace, Caleb. Predeceased by brothers Owen, Walter, Roland, Joe, Lester and Gordon; sisters Reta, Jessie, Emily and Evelyn. Muriel was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be sadly missed by many, but especially by her lifelong husband and friend Stanley. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 7, 2015 at 2p.m. at the Canning Baptist Church, Rev. Don Rafuse officiating. Reception to follow in church hall. Burial at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Association or the Canadian Diabetics Association. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home and Chapels (902) 679-2822. On-line condolences may be sent by visiting www.serenitylindsayfuneralhome.ca
