WHITE, Nina Evelina - It is with great love, respect and heartache that we announce the death of our mother Nina White after 93 wonderful years. Mom died peacefully on March 12, 2015 and to the very end was expressing humour, interest in many things and knowing everyone. Born in New Ross she was the daughter of the late Ossie and Grace Keddy. She is survived by six of her nine children Valerie (Ron Lyons) Bedford, NS; Ethel (Greg Nash) London ON; Ross (Jackie), Valley, NS; Evelyn, New Germany, NS; George, New Ross, NS; Janice, London ON; eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great grandsons. Brothers and sisters Ted Keddy (Kaye), Spryfield, NS; Garnet (Twyla), New Ross, NS; Greta West, Berwick, NS; Kaye Countway (Doug), Chester, NS; Marcelle ( Eugene Elliot), New Ross, NS and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by two husbands Walter Matheson and Mark White, daughters Kathryn Toupin, Eleanor Russell, and infant daughter Dorothy Jean; two grandchildren Paul, Lucinda; brothers Norwood, Chester, Sheldon; sisters Leola, Wilma, Irene and Patricia. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and loyal friend. Mom lived a very active life and contributed to her community and province in many ways as well as raising eight children due to early deaths of her two husbands. She was active in her Church, Home and School, she served as a school Trustee, was a founding member of the Credit Union New Ross/Chester Basin, and a founding member of Ross Farm Museum, where she donated the property and buildings enjoyed by thousands today. She was also active in politics and loved to be involved during elections to work on behalf of and support running candidates for the Progressive Conservative Party, but to us our Mom was a loving hardworking mother teaching us to be proud of our heritage, givers to our communities and to be appreciative of nature and the many gifts and good times we have had as a family. She made birthdays, Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving and other occasions very special. We will always remember her spirit, sense of humour, great meals, and fun times, laughter and her dedication to us, her family. She was a woman of strength and understanding, always looking on the bright side. She encouraged us to reach our goals and was proud of our accomplishments. We have many wonderful memories and she has been a shining star for us to follow that will never dim. Special thanks to those who provided loving care for her at home, keeping her in her own home for as long as possible. Her children thank members of the community of New Ross, her siblings, neighbours and homecare workers for their great love and support. Thank you also to the staff at Mountain Lea Lodge and Evergreen Home for Special Care who cared for her and those who appreciated her positive attitude and great strength. A particular thank you to a very special volunteer at Evergreen, Doris Hebb who got to know Mom well and worked to develop her Life Story which is a great comfort to us. Also to the Doctors and staff at Valley Regional Hospital for providing first class care when called upon, we could not have asked for more. Thank you Mom, we will miss you! Visitation will be held on Friday, March 20, 2015 at the New Ross Funeral Chapel from 2 p.m. 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. 9 p.m. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 11am at the Anglican Church, New Ross with Rev. Judi Phillips officiating. Burial will be at a later date. A reception and a Celebration of Life will be at the Forties Community Centre immediately following the service.
