MACLEOD, John Melvin passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at the age of 61 years. John M was born in Sydney Mines on February 16, 1954 and was the son of the late John J. and Joan M. (Dicker) MacLeod; also predeceased by a sister Garnet in Infancy. John M is lovingly remembered by his wife Wanda, South Haven; son John Walter, Halifax; brothers Bert (Lee) Lower Sackville; Chalmers (Marie) Antigonish; Dwight, Sydney; Mark (Peggy) Alberta; Emily Carmichael, Baddeck, loving nieces and nephews and special grand nephew, all of whom he loved dearly. After becoming a Heavy Duty Mechanic, John M settled to work at the Department of Transportation, Baddeck, where he worked for almost 26 years. He was Worshipful Master of the Masonic Lodge Baddeck, and was so proud to be involved with this organization. John M was an active member of the South Haven Community Hall of which he took great pride in being President and overseeing community events. He was an Elder of the Glen Valley United Church which he attended regularly. John M will always be remembered for his smile, kindness, selflessness and a twist of stubbornness, all of what made him the unique person he was. A Visitation will be held at St. Ann's Bay United Church, on February 25, 2015, 11am - 1:30pm followed by a Celebration of Life Service with the Masonic Lodge of Baddeck participating at 2pm. Family flowers only. Donations in his memory may be made to Glen Valley United Church or charity of one’s choice.
