HAYDEN, LAWRENCE EDWARD – 76 years - It is with heavy hearts that the family of Lawrence Edward Hayden of Berwick, Nova Scotia announce his passing suddenly at home on February 13, 2015. Born on April 20, 1938 in Digby, Nova Scotia he was the son of the late Halton and Olive (Trimper) Hayden. Lawrence lived and worked in Berwick for the past 51 years. He was a volunteer fire fighter in Berwick for many years and remained as a veteran fire fighter until his passing. An avid sports fan, Lawrence was the manager of the Berwick Alpines Fastball Team in the early 1970’s and was inducted into the Berwick Sports Hall of Fame in 2009, as well as the Digby Sports Hall of Fame. He was an avid golfer and a long time member of Paragon Golf Club where he made many friends and a lifetime of memories. Lawrence worked as a Corrections Officer at Kings County Correction Centre from 1972 until his retirement in 2003. Lawrence is survived by his wife of 52 years Peggy (nee Jones), daughter Sheri Wagner (Blayne), grandson Kale and brothers Donald and Jim. He will be sadly missed by his many relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Berwick Fire Department. As per his request cremation has taken place. There will be a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, February 18th, 2015 at the Berwick Fire Hall at 2pm. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home, Berwick Funeral Chapel, 192 Commercial St., (902) 538-9900.
