Clinch, June Evelyn - We sadly announce the death of June Evelyn Clinch, aged 89, on Saturday January 10th, 2015, in Kentville , Nova Scotia. June was born in Reading, England, on December 11th 1925. She was the only child of Nora (Winzer) and Stewart Grover, M.C. Her teenage years were spent in wartime England. She met her future husband and lifelong partner, Ian Clinch, in 1940. They were married, at age 18, in 1944 but because of her husbands wartime service, she only enjoyed a one day honeymoon before he had to report for duty as part of an invasion force in the Far East. The war years and the immediate post war years were difficult and she never lost the Make Do and Mend skills and philosophy she acquired during that time. June was devoted to raising her two sons. When they were old enough, she returned to the position of short hand typist. She loved travelling and she and Ian spent many weeks touring Europe and the U.K, in an open topped sports car. Before retirement, she began to research the family history and in retirement, she and her husband divided their time between residing in Canada and residing in England. Thus, she was able to enjoy seeing both her English grandchildren and her Canadian grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up. She loved to do needlepoint and other needle crafts. June took up square dancing after successfully persuading her husband to accompany her. She was predeceased by Ian, her husband of 66 years. She will be dearly missed by both branches of her family: her English family, son David (Valerie); grandchildren Grant (now residing in N.S.), Shelly and Lauren; her Canadian family, son Andrew (Anne); her grandchildren Marcus, Jamie (Shanna) and Nicola (Robert); great grandchildren Emma, Rowan, Alex, Jacob and Ben. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home in Berwick. Junes family want to acknowledge the kindnesses and professionalism shown to June and her husband, by the staff of Orchard View and Grand View Manor over the eleven years that she resided there; also to the staff of the Valley Regional Hospital during Junes last days. As a thank you to staff and a opportunity for friends to gather the family will host an open reception at Grand View Manor (Activity Room) on Friday 23rd January from 2:00 am to 3:30 pm. In late spring, Junes ashes will be scattered at sea at the same location as that of her husbands ashes.
