VanHattem, Anna (Anneke) age 93 years of Shannex Orchard Hall in Kentville, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on December 20, 2014.
Born in Wapenveld, Holland; she was the daughter of the late Gerrit and Hermina (Langeberg) VanWelsum.
She married Rudy VanHattem in 1940 and together they raised a family of six children.
In 1960 they immigrated to Nova Scotia and she worked alongside her husband on their dairy farm in Woodville.
She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. Also together they created many good memories of family suppers and gatherings.
After their retirement they spent parts of many winters in Florida and as well traveled to many other places.
Anna is survived by daughters Miep (Wim) Palm, Heemskerk, Holland, Kathy (Piet) Hartenhof, Lakeville; sons Henk (Irene), Coldbrook, Rudy (Alice) Woodville, Dick (Diane), Saint John, NB; daughter in law Ida VanHattem, Berwick. She was a loving Oma to twenty one grandchildren and forty five great grandchildren.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Anna was predeceased by her husband Rudy Sr. in 2010 and her son Herman in 2014.
A sincere thank you to staff at the Shannex, Orchard Court, Kentville for their wonderful care of Anna these past 5 years.
Funeral service for the late Anna VanHattem will take place on Monday, December 29, 2014 at 2:30pm from the Kentville Christian Reform Church, 118 Oakdene Ave with Rev. Bert VanderBeek officiating.
Donations in memory of Anna may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
