Canavan, Clara Mary – of Berwick and formerly of Cambridge, passed away peacefully at the Grand View Manor on September 12, 2014. Born in Admiral Rock, Hants Co, NS; she was the daughter of the late John Grover Cleveland and Bertha Louise (Moore) Turple. Left with fond and loving memories are her daughter Patricia (Leon) Reeves of Prospect, their children Tracey (Robert) Rogers, Kelley Reeves (Rick Hiltz), Marcus Reeves (Kelly Gammon) and Jodey Reeves; son Gordon Canavan (Ginny Comeau) of Surrey, B.C., their daughter Angie Comeau; Doreen “Dean”(Larry) Swindell of Cambridge, their children Matthew Swindell (Sandi Mossman) and Vicky Swindell (John Riley); son Peter Canavan (Deanna Timm) of Whitecourt, AB, his children Josh Canavan (Sherry Lederer), Beth (Ian) Hallett and Jeff (Theresa) Canavan; daughter Cathy (George) Canavan-McGrath of Hay River, NWT, their children Kerry McGrath, Steffan (Tanya) McGrath and Luke (Francesca) McGrath; son Kevin (Nancy) Canavan of Cambridge, their children Stuart and Joseph Canavan. Clara is also survived by her 14 great grandchildren; adopted brother Sam Turple of Urbania; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Gordon in 1993; sisters Julia, Leona, Elsie, Elvie and Esther. Clara was a wonderful cook and a proud quilter, she loved to attend card parties and when Gordon was living they enjoyed camping and traveling together. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2014 from 2-4pm at the Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home, Berwick Chapel; from where the funeral service will take place on Monday, September 15, 2014 at 1pm with Rev. Dr. Judith Saunders officiating. Burial to take place in the Berwick Cemetery. Family flowers only please. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Clara made to the Parkinson’s Society Maritime Region, NS Heart & Stroke Foundation or to Grand View Manor would be appreciated by her family. Special Thank You to the staff of Grand View Manor for the special love, care and support shown to Clara and her family during her stay.
