Smith, Percy Frederick age 95 years of Dykeland Lodge in Windsor, formerly of Mt. Denson, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2014.
Born in Falmouth on April 19, 1919; he was the son of the late Burpee and Bertha (Swinimer) Smith.
Percy was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps. He worked at Minas Basin Pulp and Power Company for 38 years. He was known by many for his work undercoating cars. He was passionate about gardening and won several awards for his flowers and vegetables.
Left with fond and loving memories are his daughter Cindy (Howard) Simpson of Mt. Denson; son Jeff (Robin Rudderham) of Millville; grandchildren Jennifer (Devin) of Bishopville; Shawna (Edison) of Mt. Denson, Angela (Chris) of Kentville and Ben of Sydney Mines; great grandsons Brayden and Louis; great granddaughter Brea.
Percy was predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Muriel; sisters Violet Lockhart and Roberta Smith; brothers Owen and Harris.
In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no memorial service. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Percy made directly to The Alzheimers Society of Nova Scotia would be greatly appreciated by his family.
