Dykens, Leslie Grant Age 86, passed away while surrounded by loved ones at his home in Scotts Bay on January 15, 2014. Born in Kentville on February 12, 1927, he was the son of the late Wylie and Clara (Tupper) Dykens. Leslie enjoyed working with his hands and keeping busy, in his younger years one of his pastimes was working on cars. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife of 61 years, Myrna (Huntley); sons Michael of Kentville, Rodney (Sherry) of Cambridge, Lyndon of Wolfville, Leon (Julie) of Wolfville and Bruce of Scotts Bay; daughters Marlene Davidson of Edmonton, AB, Rhonda Barkhouse (Wayne Martin) of Scotts Bay and Roleen Bourque (Raymond) of Scotts Bay; brother Arthur (Julia) Dykens of Canning; sisters Edith (Budd) Ritchie of Yarmouth and Leora Carey of Kentville, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Leslie was predeceased by brothers Theodore and Dexter; and sisters Cora Barkhouse and Dorothy Huntley.
In keeping with Leslies wishes cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service held on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 10am from Serenity Lindsay Funeral Home, Wolfville Chapel (568 Main Street) with Rev. Dorothy Huntley officiating. Interment to take place at a later date at the Scotts Bay Cemetery.
